I'm angry. No need to hide this one. I like to think the people I know and associate with are pretty intelligent. I also like to think of them as fairly tolerant. So, when I log onto facebook and see a status like "it is impossible for someone to support Barack Obama and still be a Catholic who is in good standing with the Church. It's just impossible." My anger level rises greatly. This is not just because you're injecting religion where religion doesn't belong, although that's a good part of it. You may or may not know the individual that posted that. If you do I really don't give a damn because as far as i'm concerned if you post somthing up if fair game for anyone anywhere to comment on. So, how's the title figure into this post?
That is the boldest most audacious statement I've every heard anyone make... at least through facebook and barring all pastors. How dare you attempt to oppose your view of "proper" catholicism into another based on their political prefernce. How dare you assume the lifestyle of a person bade upon who they've chosed to vote for. That is one of the lowest, most basic forms of fearmongering retardation I've ever encountered.
I'm going to cut myself off here before I write a whole
Wow! That is pretty bad!
ReplyDeleteI am trying to figure out how this person would come to a conclusion like that. That is pretty audacious, but it may be my tolerance that doesn't allow me to know what the hell that means. Was it a crack at Senator Obama, or every non-Catholic who gives it that good old American try?
Either way, it is bigotry. It is also quite sad to think that this person is able, and willing to vote using this method of reasoning (or lack thereof).
Oh, and remember, a chain is only as strong as its weakest link. Watch this:

Yeah man it kills me that someone would try to use somthing that peoplw hold as dear as religion to shame people politically, nevermined the paradox it creates to apply religious principals to either party. Also I gotta say thanks, you post has greatly relieved me.
